“Working with Naomi was like
having someone who is for you,
who keeps seeing you and
accepting you. I couldn't have
written the book without Naomi.
She is truly my fairy godmother
~ Katayoon Zandvakili: author,
My Beautiful Impostor
"Naomi has provided unwavering support, profound mirroring, and
has gently guided and encouraged
me, again and again, to write from the place of my true and authentic self.
In the process, I have come into relationship with my deepest
creative self, after a lifetime of longing and disconnection from it. This gift beyond measure I attribute
in large part to Naomi's soulful,
loving, supportive and wise guidance."
~ Carolyn Shoshana Fershtman,
Ph.D., Psychologist; author,
Carrying Joseph's Bones
“Naomi Rose has been instrumental
in keeping the project of the book
I'm writing alive. Her insight, understanding, encouragement,
and caring have helped me to remove confusion, show me a path, and keep me inspired and going. No one else I know could have aided me in such a way.”
~ Billy Weprin, author,
Gifts of the Day
“ Naomi encouraged me to do the joyful thing, instead of the things I think I should do. This was very affirming. And I felt heard, in a very strong initial way. It's different from trying to write a book on my own, because it feels like what I'm doing
is being done in relationship. ”
~ Shirley R. McGinnis, author, Sometimes Love Is Enough
"You have been utterly exceptional.
I cannot imagine another editor on
the planet who could step into my shoes and edit esoteric material as beautifully and sincerely as
~ Rebecca Field, author,
To Choose the Fire of the Cosmos

IT'S HIP TO WRITE A BOOK!
My attention, of late, has been taken up with upcoming hip-replacement surgery (it happens on April 23 rd ), but even so, writing books is still central to my heart. This is not only because I love my clients so much ~ who they are, and what they are seeking to do in their books ~ but also because I see that once we open up to following the heart's call and guidance, a whole new story can come about.
When Your Book Has a Will of Its Own
This seems true even if you are not writing a fictional work: even if it's nonfiction, or a self-help, or a how-to. As long as it's the heart's call you are following, the book-writing journey can take you seemingly far afield from where you started out from ~ and in the process, land you just exactly where you wanted to be (but didn't necessarily know it). This is why I never panic when my clients' books (or my own) change direction in midstream; call for an element previously unconsidered; take on a life of their own.
True, sometimes the place from which we start a book may be a clear and stepwise indication of where we will be going: a map we follow to reach an expected goal, leading to exactly the goal we expected when at last we type "The End." But more often, writing a book from the deeper Self is a process of letting what wants to be known reveal itself to you. An outline may be the ego's initial work, a way to get into the process of writing. But once begun, it often happens that the book wants to tell you more and deeper and better and truer than you ever initially had in mind.
My graduated client Rahima Warren, author of Dark Innocence (the first book in a trilogy called The Star-Seer's Prophecy ) ~ a fantasy novel of the healing journey ~ had this experience directly. A life-long lover of fantasy, years ago she began writing a fantasy novel about a character named "Kyr" ~ and the story took over from there. A psychotherapist and expressive arts counselor, she found herself awed by the human capacity to heal and to reach new levels of forgiveness, wholeness, and happiness in her work with clients recovering from abuse. Learning to trust the psyche's own process enabled her to allow a dark and mysterious story to flood forth unhindered. The book is now in print and ebook, and has so touched its readers that one woman experienced a spontaneous healing after reading it. (Click here to read the interview) This could be true of your book, as well.
Maybe You're on to Something (or Something is on to You)
I mention this phenomenon of a book taking its time to reveal itself before it takes the lead and transforms the author, because it happens so often in my work. Writing from the Deeper Self does require action and commitment; but the process is at least as important as the product. Indeed, the product is an organic outgrowth of the process. It is much more like conceiving and gestating a child than it is like manufacturing a product, and patience is part of it. Then, when there is an alignment between what is in you and what the book of your heart calls for, you feel a kind of quickening, and you can't get to the paper or computer fast enough to write it down.
So what is "hip" about this process? Is it quick, is it sexy, will it help you lose weight? Well, I'd like to think that our world is truly in a transformational process, and that the emergence of "slow" modalities (slow food, slow economies, etc.) says something about taking time, paying attention, listening to what has life and meaning, and allowing the nature of what it is to bring forth what it is capable of bringing forth ~ whether a head of organic lettuce grown in cared-for, well-loved soil, or a baby born into a home where it is wanted, or a book that is not a product outside you but instead is the very essence of what has grown from within you.
"I was a treasure, and I longed to be known," God said; and so we were brought into being, that we might know and be instruments of the Divine as it wants to express itself through us. Writing (and reading) books like this are worth the wait, worth the journey, worth giving our wholehearted energy to. Books like this can transform us all.

Writing from the Deeper Self
Bringing your treasures into the world...
If you have been longing to be really heard ~ really seen ~ really known ~ to find and speak from your true voice and write a book that not only others will respond to but you yourself will respond to,
I can help you write the book of your heart so that not only do you come out with a book you can publish,
but you get to be nurtured and loved along the way.
What a gift to yourself ~ and to your potential readers.
And, on a practical level, once you are a published author, you can use your book to let people know about your work, your message, your other offerings, and your contribution to humanity. You can potentially more than make your investment in book-writing back, and build your platform as you mine and reveal your heart in writing.
I work with clients in person at my Oakland, CA studio. For those out of the San Francisco Bay Area, we work together by phone and email.
Sessions are 1 hour (longer sessions are also possible).
