“Working with Naomi was like

having someone who is for  you,

who keeps seeing you and

accepting you. I couldn't have

written the book without Naomi.

She is truly my fairy godmother

of writing.

~ Katayoon Zandvakili: author,

My Beautiful Impostor

"Naomi has provided unwavering support, profound mirroring, and

has gently guided and encouraged

me, again and again, to write from the place of my true and authentic self.

In the process, I have come into relationship with my deepest

creative self, after a lifetime of longing and disconnection from it. This gift beyond measure I attribute

in large part to Naomi's soulful,

loving, supportive and wise guidance."

“Naomi Rose has been instrumental

in keeping the project of the book

I'm writing alive. Her insight, understanding, encouragement,

and caring have helped me to remove confusion, show me a path, and keep me inspired and going. No one else I know could have aided me in such a way.”

~ Billy Weprin, author,

“ Naomi encouraged me to do the joyful thing, instead of the things I think I should do. This was very affirming. And I felt heard, in a very strong initial way. It's different from trying to write a book on my own, because it feels like what I'm doing

is being done in relationship. ”

~ Shirley R. McGinnis, author, Sometimes Love Is Enough

"You have been utterly exceptional.

I cannot imagine another editor on

the planet who could step into my shoes and edit esoteric material as beautifully and sincerely as

you did."

Naomi is a princess weaving straw into gold, using her experiences and interpretations of deprivation and tragedy as the path to the

"A daring, taboo-breaking, visceral, intensely moving novel. It's impossible not to get wrapped up in the characters and their passions,

December 2012

End-of-Year Thank You!

Without you reading this newsletter ~ whether for the first time or whether you have been a faithful reader for some time ~ I would not be inspired to share my best understanding of what makes for deep writing, how it touches the heart and soul, and how we all can access it if we are called to.

This has been, looking back, a most eventful year here at Writing from the Deeper Self and Rose Press. I am sure it has been eventful for you as well. These are rather amazing times we are living in, and being asked to bring our deepest hearts and minds to. And especially with the rise and expansion of self-publishing, now, writing a book ranks as one of the most potent things a person can do to make a difference in the world.

One of the aspects I most love about the Writing from the Deeper Self process ~ in my ongoing work as a Book Whisperer/Developer ~ is that it is so much more than simply cranking out a product in order to get your name known, career advanced, message across, and so on. It is all that, of course; but it is so much more.

When you write a book that you are really wanting to write with all of you, something magical happens. Some dormant seed within you takes life when you bring your (perhaps secret) desire into form through writing a book. Far more than simply producing pages (though that happens, too), you listen to the holy presence that wants expression in and through you. You let the egg of your dormancy crack, and begin growing a life.

These birth and midwifing metaphors are not too much to describe what happens when I sit with a client (in person in my Oakland studio, or on the phone if they live out of the San Francisco Bay Area). Deep desire wells up when given the attentive space, and makes itself known similarly to an angelic annunciation. Of course, fears may come when we receive this "announcement" ~ such as, "Who am I to think I really have something to say?" and "Who would even care?" and so on. But if the desire is a true one, it must have its birth.

In this past year, I have seen beautiful and heroic things come out of this developmental process of listening, refining, re-visioning, and seeking to say what seemed previously unsayable in print. Some clients are continuing to work on their manuscript after even several years (not unusual, for those seeking to break through and bring forth new ground).

Some have published their heart-works of several years. For example, Rahima Warren's spell-binding healing fantasy, Dark Innocence (first in a trilogy called The Star-Seer's Prophecy). And recently, Dr. Rebecca Field's galvanizing spiritual book, To Choose the Fire of the Cosmos: Using Our Soul Qualities to Build a Better World. Both books are the much-loved children of their "parents'" hearts and labors, and promise a great read as well as truly healing life on our planet, as we shift into more aware, connected, creative, and loving ways.

Some clients have just recently begun working with me, and are still in the early process of finding their way. Some know what they want to write about and confer with me as to how, and what has resonance, and what their natural creative ways are so that they can be themselves as they allow their books to take form.

Others are so close to the inchoate desire ~ the "Uh, ah, uh" of wanting, without quite yet knowing what specifically is wanted ~ that their process right now is to look into themselves and see what has life, what calls them, and what fears block the answering of that call. This too, for me, is a holy encounter: to help give voice to what wants to become most real.

My own books also have had a life, this past year. MotherWealth: The Feminine Path to Money was revised and published in 2012, and while making its way into the world somewhat slowly, still has garnered a very deep appreciation from its readers.  It has been my intention for quite a few years to bring the inner life more into the outer arena, and the realm of money is an unusual and wonderful place to do this.

Another, earlier book in my "money and the inner life" series is The Portable Blessings Ledger , a hands-on book that lets users bring together the stories of what happens in their lives around money with the dollars-and-cents keeping track of everything they spend, earn, and so on. (I began it because I was so much more in the "story" ~ or right-brain ~ end that I needed a way to motivate myself to do precise accounting. Over time, this really has happened. My bookkeeping is great, and even my accountant says so.) So whether you are more right- or more left-brained, this book can help you bring both together. That is a great richness in itself.

In the creativity department, my book Starting Your Book: A Guide to Navigating the Blank Page by Attending to What's Inside You , published in 2011, has remained a favorite in 2012. I'm so delighted that readers have written me about what the book has meant to their own writing process, how it has encouraged them and opened doors to believing they could write a book. I love hearing from real people, seeking to really express what matters to them in a way that feels true and contributory to themselves as well as their readers.

I don't know who is more blessed: the clients who decide to engage me to write their books, so that they can really hear and value what is in them and comes out of them ~ or me, getting to sit with them, hear them, hear the beauty, uniqueness, and universality in their stories and messages. It's a sacred thing to witness and hold someone's full being and essential life seeking to make its way through the cracks of our disbelief and conditioning. It's like the time I discovered a full-blown hollyhock plant rising gloriously up from a crack in the sidewalk. No pavement can hold down our true nature forever.

Writing from the Deeper Self is one way to invite it into the light ~ and make it available to others who read what we write, and get to be touched, transformed, healed, given to, as a result.

So perhaps 2013 is your year to let what is in you come out in a healing and beautiful way, through writing a book. If so, I am here. You can contact me for a free 1/2-hour phone consultation, to find out if this is something that is really for you, and if I am the person to help you with it. Writing from the Deeper Self Book Development

Remember what God is said to have said to us, at a pre-cognitive level that we all carry around:

"I was a hidden treasure, and I longed to be known."

Your hidden treasure ~ once it comes forth ~ is our nourishment and our healing. Think about bringing out your light, this year, as a book that will outshine your ~ and all of our ~ fears.

Happy New Year.

Writing from the Deeper Self

Bringing your treasures into the world...

If you have been longing to be really heard ~ really seen ~ really known ~ to find and speak from your true voice,

I can help you write the book of your heart so that not only do you come out with a book you can publish,

but you get to be nurtured and deeply heard, along the way.

What a gift to yourself ~ to your potential readers ~ and to the deeper Self within you.

And, on a practical level, once you are a published author, you can use your book to let people know about your work, your message, your other offerings, and your contribution to humanity. You can potentially more than make your investment in book-writing back, and build your platform as you mine and reveal your heart in writing.

I work with clients in person at my Oakland, CA studio. For those out of the San Francisco Bay Area, we work together by phone and email.

Sessions are 1 hour (longer sessions are also possible).

Fee packages include:

  • By the month: $250/month includes two 1-hour sessions plus unlimited email (for questions, correspondence, sending me pieces of writing in process, my feedback, etc.)
  • By the hour: $120-$85, sliding scale.
  • Flat rate (depends on particulars of your book--to be explored)

I also offer experienced assistance with:

  • Editing
  • Self-publishing
